Allucinalia
A downloadable game
Allucinalia is a solo journaling game where you explore the liminal space of an ever-changing dreamscape. It’s the type of dream where you have enough awareness to shift and shape your actions, but are not quite lucid enough to change the dream itself. Anything can happen, but it might not be exactly the way you expect.
**MAJOR UPDATE - V2.0 OUT NOW!!**
WHAT'S NEW IN VERSION 2?
- Expanded guidelines around creating a Dream Journal, and instructions for writing out dreams in said journal.
- Revised questions/prompt structure to streamline game mechanics; prompts are now more clearly defined as a Change or Connection, two different ways to build your dreams.
- 10 new options for extended play, from illustrating the connections between multiple dreams to creating a dream collage to marking up and playing with an annotated card deck.
- Updated ending mechanics to focus the gameplay experience on dreaming - in this new version, build a Dream Deck by drawing cards in advance, then shuffle in jokers to trigger the game-end mechanics. This makes the end conditions more predictable, while keeping an element of random chance.
- Updated decompression options for wind-down after gameplay.
- Formatted for a limited physical print run. Soon to be available at Side Quest Books & Games in Somerville, MA.
- Updated art modified from public domain artwork.
It could start fantastical or mundane. A conversation with a friend. A familiar place you haven't been in years. Flying through the air. Your pet is driving you to work. However strange it may be, in the moment this all feels ordinary to you. Because whether you know it or not, the following are true: You are asleep. You are dreaming. You are participating. You are going to have an interesting story when you wake up…
Allucinalia offers a way to explore your subconscious and enjoy the fun of a dream journal without requiring you to remember your own dreams. Prompts across a wide spectrum of tones and themes create an ever-shifting, strangely-connected, fantastical-but-familiar world. When you play repeatedly over time, you can explore themes in new and interesting ways, providing a launchpad for further creativity.
This game was originally created for the Queertober TTRPG Jam.

Amazing game, Maggie!
Gameplay took me about an hour.
[Text of review]
Shockingly simple, Allucinalia gave me an introspective experience that I will be returning to for self-exploration again and again. The prompts had the right amount of detail to lead my thinking, but are general enough that every time I play will create a different "dream."
Although I picked up a community copy (thank you so much for providing those!), for those who can afford it, Allucinalia is easily worth the cost, especially for its replayability.
This is such a kind and lovely review, thank you so much! Sorry it took me a minute to get back to you - funny enough, I was in the middle of working on a big update to this game specifically. The prompts are mostly the same with some tweaks, but I modified how the game ends, did a whole new layout, and added some 'extended gameplay' options to increase that replayability.
I'm really glad you were able to snag a Community Copy, and I hope that you'll enjoy checking out the updated version if you end up replaying it!
